Aspects of Motha Ma'at

Maat (or Ma'at) is the  ancient Egyptian goddess and personification of truth, balance, order, law, morality, and justice . She is central to Egyptian theology, representing the cosmic order maintained by Ra and symbolized by an ostrich feather against which souls were weighed in the afterlife. Key Aspects of Maat Deity & Role:  Daughter of Ra and consort of Thoth, she ensures harmony in the universe. The Weighing of the Heart:  In the  Duat (underworld) , the heart of the deceased was weighed against Maat's feather; a balanced heart allowed entry into the afterlife. Seven Principles of Maat:  Often used in modern contexts to represent ethical living: Truth, Justice, Propriety, Balance, Reciprocity, Harmony, and Order. Symbolism:  Often depicted as a woman with an ostrich feather on her head
